Saturday 9th December: carol singing at Leith Hill Place, Surrey, noon ’til 4pm

Description

Join Leith Hill Timeline Choir for a five-week festive carol course, culminating in an afternoon of singing at Leith Hill Place on Saturday 9th December. Paying particular attention to carols from the local area, including arrangements by Vaughan Williams and a couple of almost unknown but beautiful folk carols from Surrey villages, we take you on a mulled-wine infused journey through time, discovering the amazing stories behind some of Britain’s best-loved (and a few unjustly neglected) carols. When it comes to the famous carols, we will be drilling the harmonies and descants until you can sing them in your sleep – this is a rare opportunity to really focus on those common choral carol arrangements that all choirs like to sing, but rarely have time to practise properly!

The five week course begins on Tuesday 31st October and takes place from 7:30–9:15pm at Forest Green Village Hall, Horsham Road, Surrey RH5 5RZ (plenty of free parking is available outside).

No sight reading or prior experience are required to participate but it would be useful to have a copy of the Oxford University Press Carols for Choirs Book 1.

All welcome!
